Might have something to do with a messed up system variable. The closest thing I can even think of is that, possibly, something got screwed up, and when it goes to run a file called setup.exe which is elsewhere to get the Networking stuff installed, it was either pointed at or is accidently looking at the root of the CD, versus where it should. Is it the Disable Autorun option for the CD itself, or to turn off Autorun on the Optical Drives after installation?Frankly, I have never seen or heard about anything remotely like that.

I know Autorun.inf isn't used to boot the CD, but I wasn't sure if there wasn't some fucked up Microsoft scheme going. I completely removed Autorun.inf, so if you haven't tried that, I suggest it.This also reassured me that when it comes time for me to replace the Menu, it won't interfere in the setup. It started up just fine for Setup, but in Windows itself, it wouldn't pop up the Autorun Menu. It's still happening? Did you get rid of Autorun.inf, or just delete everything in it? Hold on, lemme do a small test and get back to you.Update:Alright, I made a Windows CD, sans Autorun.inf.

I doubt it'd have any adverse effect, I just haven't gotten around to it yet.quote:Originally posted by Flea2k:This poor computer has been formatted and reinstalled about 8 times now. I wouldn't think so.I've been thinking of the same, but to replace the default Autorun Menu with one of my own making.

Oh well I have more cd's will keep on burnin till I get it right. Weird.I've never run into that.quote:Originally posted by Flea2k:I am burning another one with "autorun" disabled but I would seriously doubt it would have any affect during the initial setup. During Detecting and installing devices it was almost as if it "autoran" the XP cd and the window that pops up when you stick in an xp cd into the cd rom drive popped up. Then AutoPartition should kick in, and automatically install to the new Partition. Add this under Repartition = YesThat'll make Windows wipe any partitions from the drive, and then reformat the entire thing as NTFS. View image here: - Keep AutoPartition, since it automatically chooses the partition. Originally posted by Igtenio:Alright, I apologize, I screwed up a bit.AutoPartition makes the Windows setup choose the first available Partition on the drive, and install to that.Silly me, I thought it, you know, Automatically Partitioned.
